Highland Park, Amarillo, TX
Highland Park is a community, school district, and school in Potter County encompassing the zip code 79108. This northeast Amarillo community is served by the Highland Park Independent School District, composed of Highland Park Elementary School, Highland Park Middle School, and Highland Park High School. The district serves around 1,000 students each year, covering the entire eastern section of Potter County, and has a mascot of a hornet. The district was formed in 1979 after operating for several years independently for grades K – 9. During the 1984-1985 school year, the district expanded to grades K – 12.
Located on 8th Ave, specifically 13300 Bandera Dr, Amarillo, TX 79111, is the Highland Park Village, opened in 1971 and is located on the old Amarillo Air Force Base, no longer in operation. The community of residents is well-established and has been tight-knit, with staff having raised children and grandchildren on the premises for decades.
Amarillo College East Campus is located around Highland Park directly south of the Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc. Also in the area are major production plants that employ a large majority of the population in Highland Park.
