Lockney, TX
Floyd County is home to the small town of Lockney, TX, sitting at the junction of U.S. Highway 70, Farm roads 97 and 378, and the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroads. The town has a population of around 1,400 and is served by the Lockney Independent School District, which is composed of Lockney Elementary School, Lockney Jr. High School, and Lockney High School. The Lockney Cemetary is in the north part of town, a drive on 8th St up from town.
There are a few different restaurants in the town to choose from when looking for a place to dine, including Jigsaw’s 2 Go Drive-In at 818 Locust St., Main Street Pizza, Old Maroon Saloon, and Tastee Burger. There is also a Lowe’s Pay-N-Save, Allsup’s Convenience Store, and a Dollar General for any grocery store need residents or travelers in the town may have.
For activities in Lockney, there is a public Swimming Pool located at 501 SE 8th St, Lockney, TX 79241. The Lockney Football Field is where the Longhorns, Lockney High School’s football team, practice and play games. There are also quite a few churches in the town for those of the Christian faith. These include Power of Praise Pentecostal Church at 704 N Main St, Main Street Church of Christ at 505 S Main St, and San Jose de Calasanz Church at 303 S E 4th St.
